History
Vale of Evesham Christian Centre (now Vale of Evesham Community Church) has always sought to support those in need in our local community. They made sure there was always a small stock of food available if anyone contacted them with a need for a food parcel. A box was put at the back of the church for donations and a shelf was cleared in a cupboard. In June 2003 Diane Bennett became community worker and her role included developing this much needed service within the local community. It was at that point that 'Caring Hands in the Vale' was born and in 2005 the Caring Hands Diner was opened. By 2014 it was clear that Caring Hands had grown so much that it required separate governance and expertise and the process began to establish it as a separate charity with its own accounts, Trustees and policies. We finally became an independent charity in 2016. While we retain very strong links with Vale of Evesham Community Church, our Trustees and volunteers represent a wide range of backgrounds and areas of expertise. Our latest initiative is to establish a drop-in centre in a dedicated building - The Lighthouse Project which opened in 2022!
